Which receiver to buy?

What are you trying to accomplish? How many HDMI inputs or outputs do you need?

There are dozens of possibilities. Fill us in with the kind of speaker system you have or plan to buy and a budget for the receiver. To give you some perspective, for around three to five hundred dollars or so you can a pretty decent receiver, but the sky's the limit on the upper end.
