This occurred to me the other day..
I have the ability to display any picture I want on my television. So why pay for DVDs or whatnot with test patterns on them, when I could just display my own test pattern?
Especially since I'd want to calibrate my new TV whenever I get around to buying it (whenever it goes on sale next, probably). Those DVDs become largely worthless for fine-tune calibration since they only display 480p at best.
Could I not simply download, or make, my own test patterns? Even 1920x1080, then just display it full frame and off I go?
Are there places out there where you can download test patterns? Or some sort of guide to what's needed on a test pattern, so I could just whip one up in Photoshop or something?
