Power Protection

A TV Shop owner in my little town said it was important to get a good surge protector for my new TV especially if I go with a cheap Vizio like I may do tonight LCD 46 :)
Any recommendations on a surge protector that really protects a rather large LCD tv?
I think from what I have read that with computer protection actually having a battery backup works better for power conditioning but I don't know if that is possible or true with large, power hungry, LCD and/or plasma panels?

A Tripplite surge protector is all you need. Good bang for the buck. Outperforms many others for much less. The cost shouldn`t exceed $65 to $75.
