no signal with sony DVP-CX995V through hdmi

Alright everyone I need your help. If anyone has any experience with the sony DVP-CX995V 400 disc mega changer I really need some help. I have all the connections hooked up and got the player working. I can get the player to work fine with component video and optical audio, however when I swith over to the hdmi output I get no video signal to my projector (mitsubishi hc-900u). I have to use a hdmi to dvi adaptor to get the signal into my projector. I know the projector works and the hdmi cable is quality. I had my other dvd player running through this previous to hooking this one up and everything worked fine. If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it.
