View Full Version : Sennheiser Sport Headphone questions

Folks,
I currently have my old Sony MDR-W07 pair of headphones that I have had for about 10 to 15 years. I use them when working out on my SanDisk Sansa mp3 player. The sound is rather blah to say the least. It would be nice to have something that sounds a bit better. I know from what I have heard here and other places that Sennheiser is a good brand. So I looked to see what I could find. I don't really like the in the ear earbud style phones, as it has usually hurt my ears. The Sony's that I have have a head band that keeps them on, though they are a sideways looking earbud. I found a Sennheiser PMX 70 that has a neck band, and some similar in ear buds, that looks nice. Has anyone ever listened to these, and do they really sound good enough to spend the $50 on them, or should I just go ahead and keep my Sony's until they die?

I think headphones are like speakers, you need to take a listen to see if they are for you. For my portable CD player I use Koss Porta Pros. They are very efficient and have a bit of extra bass. To me the overall sound is "tight" with good detail. They are light and reasonably comfortable. Worth a listen. Around $50 or so.

I certainly agree with Nick250 that headphones, like speakers, should be listened to before buying. What I like, you might not.

But I've found that if I like a certain speaker model, I'm likely to like other speakers made by the same company.

I haven't listened to the Sennheisers you're asking about, but I love my Sennheiser PX 100 headphones. I didn't like the ear buds that came with my iPod, so I upgraded. What a difference!

I liked my 100s so much that I bought a pair for my parents, but of whom are hard of hearing (my dad's almost deaf), when I got them a portable DVD player this year. They love the Sennheiser headphones, and my dad can hear the DVDs well. (I got a stereo-mono adaptor plug for the headphones, so he could get both channels sent to both ears. Since he's completely deaf in one ear, he can still get all the audio in his other one.)

Have you checked Amazon for user reviews of the set you're interested in?
