Getting ready to replace a DVD player . I am looking for something in the $ 500 range, dvd a and sacd.I don't have any hookups fo DVI or HDMI so thats not realy important.
I'm looking for a good unit with great playback on DVD-A , good bass mngt etc.
Right now I have narrowed it down to a Marantz 7600 and Denon 2910.
Any other suggestion ?
My reciever is a HK 635,TV a Panasonic Plasma TH-37PW 8UK.
I'm returning a DVD player that has a issue with chapter changes in which I get a loud pop in speakers ( digital feed). It only happens once and awhile.( I'm on my 2nd unit) The North american Dist has said it could a compatability problem with the HK reciever??? These units have caused 2 speakers to blow there Bass drivers. I can't/won't put this DVD player back into system even if they said it's fixed. ( it's under warranty)
Thats why I'm looking, Thanks

Those Denon's have the best bass management I've ever seen in a source component. Puts others to shame. I'm reviewing the new DVD-3930CI which has DUAL bass management controls - one is dedicated just to HDMI.

Whats your op. of the 2910 vs Marantz 7600? Musicaly speaking, DVD-A SACD.

I just bought a 2910 and it performs fabulously, I really enjoy the Pure Direct mode for HDCD's in two channel. DVD-A performance is quite exemplary. I do not use my unit for SACD playback. In addition, although you expressed no interest in DVI or HDMI it's nice to know it's back there in case you need it down the road. According to the review on this site, the only glaring problem with the unit was the black level factory spec that was supposedly corrected with updated firmware. Lastly, it should nose in right around your price point perhaps with an online retailer (make sure it is a Denon certified dealer or no warranty). Good luck.

I sent you a PM as I'm very familiar with the Marantz DV7600 player. The Denon 2910 is very nice too but the 2930 is crap (mine broke within 48 hours and I returned it).

Gotta wait a little bit when new stuff comes out. The first batch usually have the most problems.
