I got a Denon DVD-2930CI coming early next week. I will be hooking it up to my Denon AVR-3806 via HDMI and the Denon Link (3rd Gen.) connection. Does the Denon Link support all audio formats? Any other advice you can give would be appreciated.

It supports SACD and DVD-A, if that is what you are asking.

DL 3rd edition supports DVD-A and SACD; earlier versions do not support SACD, but that should be moot for your new deck.

Great news - my audio guys told me it would be a couple of months. Where did you order it from?

I ordered it here (http://www.listenup.com/servlet/UpdateEngine/?FUELAP_SITEDBID=SITE%5F%2D66&FUELAP_OP=FUELOP_NewScreen&PAGE_ID=LUPAGE%5F60134&DP_ID=LISTENUP%5FDP%5F22333443&SECTION_ID=LUPAGE%5F60134&FUELAP_TEMPLATENAME=lu%5Fproduct&). I made sure to order from an authorized dealer. They even have free 2nd day air shipping to all 50 states. Bonus for me since I'm in Hawaii and shipping is usually never free here. It shipped out today and I should have it on Monday.

I bought my AVR-4306 from them, and the transaction was flawless. Good luck with your new toy!

I might order one next week, but I am not sure if it is worth the upgrade from my Sony DVP-NS3100ES.

I received it today. It looks and works great. It took a little while to set it up with all those menus, but I'm glad I made the purchase. I really want to see how this 8MB buffer affects layer changes. On my old Momitsu player there was a bit of a pause between layer changes so I hope this buffer on the Denon eliminates that.

I see that you can pre order the 3930CI. Price looks a lot closer to retail than the 2930CI does. That Reon-VX chip from Silicon Optix should make your DVD player the talk of the town! Really nice player and the last DVD player you will probably ever want or need. Very nice choice!!!!!

kage,

All the reviews say these two players are the best priced players currently using the Reon and HQV chips. Depending on your display, I am sure their would be a considerably noticeable improvement over the Sony. I was blown away by the performance of the 5910 using the same processor.

I bought mine 2900 here years ago with no problems and for much better price.

There is no comparison between the two. The new 2930ci uses the a very similar HQV chipset that was in the $3500US Denon 5910.

So, to get 5910 performance for the $1500 retail price of the new player is a bargain.

I was commenting were you can get your 2930ci from, for a bit cheaper then an already posted link, I simply mentioned I purchased a "similar" product from them before, but I made no comparison between those products.Hope that helps?

I believe (but could be mistaken) that the 2930ci uses the Reon chip for video processing, and the 3930ci uses the Realta chip. Also, I think the 2930ci uses the 1791 Burr Brown, and the 3920ci uses the slightly better 1796 Burr Brown model.

That is correct, the 2930 does not use the Realta chipset.
