another dvd player question/opinion

I'm currently looking at a panasonic dvd-s52 for $100,looks good,decent format support ect...I wont have a HDTV for another year or so but most newer dvd players seem to have HDMI so its not an issue.For the next year I would like to enjoy the best player for around $150,until I upgrade the tv.What looks good out there? thanx.

Look at the DV-970 by oppo, it sells for $150.00 plays all formats and cable is included!:)

I might skip the Oppos because they haven't gotten great reviews for their 480i capability. However, they probably aren't any worse than most other 480i players on the market at the price, to be honest and then you're all set when you do get a HDTV.

The Oppo seems to have better picture in analog mode compared to the dvd-s52 but for $100 the panasonic got very good marks in HDMI (no good to me) so how about a player under $200 with the best non digital picture output.http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/cgi-bin/shootout.cgi?function=search&articles=130
