Hi all !

I have recently bought myself an end-of-lined Panasonic TC-32LX50. I really like the picture, except the blacks which are kinda navy blue, but what really disappointed me when I got the thing home is the lack of features. There's not even the time nor the PIP on this TV ! I can still exchange it, and I'm considering the new Samsung LN-S3251D. I'd like to know what are your thoughts on the company in general. Is the service good (I'm in Canada) ? Are their TVs reliable ? I heard things about the Koreans not really being up there with the Japanese ... Is this only true of cars or are LCDs the same ? Should I just keep the Pana cuz the quality outweights the lack of features ?

Thanks !

I had a Samsung 27" CRT when I first graduated from college (no money  ). Looked nice, but wasn't near the quality of a Toshiba, Sony or Panasonic CRT IMO. The speakers blew after a few years, the tuner went after several years, and the picture got worse. I ended up using it as a monitor (had to use the receiver for sound and vcr for a tuner.

I've always thought of Samsung as an entry level unit - like Sylvania. It's fine on a budget, but if you can swing a bit extra, go name brand.

As far as service and warranties - make sure there's a local authorized repair shop near you. LCD's are pretty robust, so an extended warranty IMO isn't worth it unless it's dirt cheap.

Samsung makes some of the best lcd's on the market. They've probably invested more money into lcd research than any other manufacturer. They're an OEM manufacturer who, believe it or not, provide the lcd screens for many other brands. In fact, I believe at one point, samsung was providing panasonic with their lcd screens.

Samsung is actually the world leaders in LCD technology, even over Sharp. They make LCD's with great black levels and features. They actually manufacture all of Sony's LCD's as well. I say get it.

Regarding the black levels, this aspect has never really been a strong point for any lcd television. Just something to consider.
