If I end up purchasing CRT, it would be one of Slim TV's.
So...
What are "your" thoughts on a LG 30FS4D vs a Samsung TX-R3080WH vs a Philips 30PW9100D.

Each are 30" widescreen with HD tuner built in.
I like the Samsung - it has 2 HDMI 's !

I have checked out CNET, but looking for further input.

The only thing I have to add to this is don't buy a Sony. I have their 34" tube, which is having problems, and their CS sucks. Because of this bad experience and all the running around they are making me do I will not buy another product of theirs again...I don't care how good people claim it to be.

But, if you can get a 34", I'd say get the bigger size, the screens seem like they shrink fast!

I second not buying a Sony. As for the others, I haven't heard a lot about LG's CRT's. I'm guessing the tubes are from another manufacturer. My favorite CRT brands are Sanyo, Panasonic, and Samsung. They all make very good quality CRT's. You should look before buying.

The LG I am looking at seems to have more features. I hear the anti-glare screen looks good. The picture looks great.

The Samsung has 2 HDMI's a plus since my current DVD is HDMI- so if I get a HD SAT box I am really in good shape. The picture looks almost as great as the LG - they are close though.

The LG is probably very good. They make very nice products. I just haven't heard anything about their CRT's.

I haven't had any problems with any of my Sony TVs, ever, including my current 34" CRT. I've also owned a number of Panasonics and to be honest, I feel the Panasonic CRTs have the best color.

...totally agree with that. panasonic crt's, imho, have always had one of the best pictures on the market.

although i don't own one, when i started to research a new television for myself, i came across that very same philips, as well as the 34" model. they've gotten some really great reviews and apparantly are very good at displaying a standard def signal. also, check the philips factory authorized outlet for some great deals on the philips sets, as they are nicely discounted and usually come with free shipping (nice, considering how heavy these televisions actually are):

Ended up with the LG 30FS4D - from Best Buy.
Side by side with the Samsung the pictures looked close in comparison.
I just liked the menu & features of the LG.

BB does carry a HDMI modulator/splitter- so if/when I upgrade to HD Sat I am ok.
My local cable co has a good deal on digital service and their HD package looks to be improved by Summers end- where as Direct TV's HD service may not see improvement till Spring of 2007.
