Good Chick Flicks

Hey Guys

not sure if there are any threads already on the topic of Chick Flicks. You know the ones I am talking about. The ones you force yourself to sit through so you can get to your shoot em up or heavy metal DVDs later without being ragged on by the wife. Or the movie you will watch to earn a little, well, you know.

Last night I sat through "Quills". While it has some pretty interesting scenes, almost perverted at times, over all, I wanted 2 hours of my life back.

So my question is, what are some decent "Chick Flicks" that aren't painful to sit through. I do remember not minding "What A Woman Wants" and "Waiting To Exhale". Please don't laugh. I can handle them a little better if they sound good and look good. The picture I mean. And a few hotties thrown in there helps ease the pain.

Yeah Pretty Woman is a standard.

Quills had lots of naked people. Yes, men too. One of those rare movies where you see FULL frontal nudity, if you're into that sort of thing. It takes place in the 1800's when hygeine and dentistry was not really a priority so don't get too excited.

I liked Quills. Not what I would call a chick flick though.

Bram Stoker's Dracula (not exactly, but it is essentially a love story)

The American President is definately watchable.
Titanic is kind of painful to watch, but you you lots of death and destruction near the end to help make up for it.
Legally Blonde was entertaining at times.
As Good As It Gets was pretty funny.
50 First Dates
U-571, O.K. not a real chick flick, but most girls I know liked it for the "beef-cake" factor.
That and Troy.
Chicago It was watchable.

Rather than Legally Blonde, I might say Sweet Home Alabama.
50 First Dates - good call; I liked that one.

Recently watched Pride & Prejudice and I thought it was not bad.

I am a very young 37.

Quills wasn't really a chick flick. just that it was one the wife wanted to see that i didn't. Does that count? I don't read much so that's probably why I did not enjoy it. it's about literature, writing, kind of Shakespearean. Not my cup of tea, but if that kind of thing is up your alley, probably a great flick.

Elizabth Town- wasn't to bad a LOTS of good music.
Under the Tuscan sun- had a pretty cool thunder storm for the HT.

I'm pretty lucky though, we like the same movies [except perhaps Napolean Dynamite and a few others.] most the time she says "I'm in the mood for something NOISY"! Sweet...

I am surprised no one said this one yet, I did see someone put on - You've Got Mail.

Anyhow I was speaking of - Sleepless in Seattle

Someone put on Grumpy Old Men, that is much more of a comedy than a romance/chick flik.

Spotless Mind? A good film, but I wouldn't consider it a chick flick.

Garden State really isn't a chick flick in my book either, but another very decent movie.

How about Like Water For Chocolate

I'm confused

I thought "chick flick" was something else, not movies meant for females.

But since you mentioned it, just about anything with Brad Pitt would make them happy.

Not seen Chocolat, but loved the other two.

Amelie's not really the sort of thing I'd usually watch, but is definitely 'feel good' without making me want to vomit (like most similar Hollywood movies).

I found Eternal Sunshine to be quite a sad film, and something of a dark insight into human psyche... but maybe that's just my perception!
