I have a Radeon X700 Pro Graphics Card. it has the DVI-I connection on it, I'm in the market for an viewsonic lcd display, many that i'm seeing have the DVI-D connector, would the two work together? also, for imaging and video, what viewsonic do you all recomend? thanks.

I have always owned Viewsonic monitors. I've never been disappointed so I just keep buying them. My newest monitor is the VP2030B (20.1" LCD). I highly recommend it. If you don't mind spending an extra $250 for an additional inch, you could look at the 21.3" VP2130B model.

According to the specs on the website it is DVI-I. I have yet to connect the DVI cable, but if it is indeed better than analog, it will be phenomenal because the picture is already perfect using the vga cable.

Thanks for the tip, but would the DVI-D lcd and my DVI-I graphics card be compatible with one another?

There are basically two formats of DVI

Format 1 is DVI analog - DVI-A
Format 2 is DVI digital - DVI-D

When the two formats are output, or input, by a single connector, then that connection is called DVI-A.

Basically, your DVI output on your computer carries BOTH analog and digital connectivity and can thereforce connect to EITHER a DVI-A monitor or a DVI-D monitor, or a DVI-I monitor - take your pick!

NOTE: DVI-A is (as far as I know) the exact same as a VGA connector, so no equipment has DVI-A, they just use a VGA connector on the monitor or device for VGA output.
