Who cares? Out of all the idols, there has only been 1 sucessful one, and it took her a couple years after winning it.

Do you mean Kelly Clarkson?

Or Clay Aiken, with his double platinum album? Or Ruben's platinum? Or Fantasia's platinum?

Or Carrie, whose recent album is all over the radio and has already gone double platinum?

You're right. What bombs. 10 platinum albums. Psh.

1.) Clay akien is ripped on every time I hear his name.

2.) I have not heard 1! of those artists before. They are NEVER played on much music (though I'm not claiming this is a good source for music, but if you're getting airtime, it will be on there). I don't even know what their singles are called (I only know rubben because hes fat).

I hear Carrie Underwood's stuff on the country stations all the time. Kelly is all over the pop stations.

That's because you don't need any talent to be a pop singer or a country singer ;) . In fact, I'd say a pretty face is a higher prerequisite than a decent singing voice.

Gosh darn, I have to admit I have watched the program :(

I, not being a being a country music lover, thought Chris performed the best on Tuesday night, and should be the leading candidate to win.

But, as the 40 pushing 50 year old guy, I vote for Katharine. Yummy :D .

Does anybody know where the GOOOD photos ;) of Katharine are located? I am hoping there are some GOOOD photos ;) of her circulating somewhere on the web. Maybe Hugh Hef can offer her some $ when she is done on AI.

If country...

...was more popular I'd say Ms. Pickler...she seems quite comfortable in the genre...

Notwithstanding the John Denver travesty of the other night...I'm rooting for Taylor as I prefer his voice, delivery and his atypical appearance...Country Roads? bad song choice IMO...I think he may be more flexible, style-wise...Given his sorta' Ray Charles/Joe Cocker delivery, a reworking (to differentiate it from Ray Charles" version) of Don Gibson's "I Can't Stop Loving You" would have brought the house down, I think.

The other guys, well one sounds too much like a hard-rocker (although his retooling of JCs "I Walk The Line" was interesting)...one's a good ol'boy wannabe (without the chops)...one has the nasality of a boy-band singer(nyah, nyah, nyah)...and the other has that tremolo affectation which plain doesn't work on many things and he has to fight to keep it under control...quite evident the other night...

For her age Paris is quite good and Katherine is just so-so...

Other than his complete dislike of country (unless it's guest Kenny Rogers, of course) I tend to agree with Simon more often than not.

jimHJJ(...Queen?...this oughta' be interesting...)

Chris gets my vote because of his taste in music and raw edge. Having said that it is not likely that he will make an album with this type of sound because I believe that the winners are pushed into making albums to appeal to a larger demograph. So in a sense, I hope he does not win so he can make an album the way he wants. Having said that, he would only be able to create an album that is any good if he has a great band behind him.

On a side note, does anyone else feel that the sound from AI is down right bad. I am not watching this in HD so no 5.1 for me just stereo. The sound mix to me always sounds band heavy and sometimes the vocals are over mod'ed. Often sounding like they are using cheap mikes and trying to compensate with eq'ing. Even Kenny Rogers sounded a bit off and I believe it was due to the sound.

I'd say Ray Nagin.

He'll be pretty idle after the NO election this week.

I just knew...

...he'd do it...congrats to Taylor Hicks...he's got the chops, the voice, the personality, the stage-presence...

It's only after seeing the final show I really see how lackluster the rest of the final 12 actually are...
