Yamaha YSP1000

Hello- i posted this question in the beginner section also but maybe its better answered here. after purchasing the Yamaha YSP1000 surround sound unit i connected it directly to my Dell plasma using the audio out from the TV to the TV/STB in on the Yamaha utilizing red/white connectors. There is a terrible hum and buzz that no amount of cable switching remedied. HELP please, all suggestions welcome!! thanks

thank you for this link!! but unfortunately i have Directv and the Jensen website noted that the part won't work on satellite systems. would you happen to know if something exists like that part that works on Directv? thanks again for any and all help

have you tried to run the system with it disconnected from the satellite dish ? does it still humm when you did ?

if the humm is still there, then the problem isn't a ground loop.

i just tried turning the speaker on but left the TV off and the hum was still there. the more i increased the volume the louder the hum becomes. in reading the link you sent it mentioned that if the speaker could control the "loudness" then the problem begins before the speaker. any thoughts? should i disconnect the Satellite to confirm anything? thanks-thanks!!
