I haven't yet dedicated myself to buying the Denon 3805 but it seems like a good receiver from all i've read. What i cant even begin to figure out is appropriate speakers for this. My main use is home theater and I'm trying to stay under $1000 for the whole set. Now, if it's not possible to really take advantage of the receiver at this price range, what receiver should i be looking at? But if it is possible at this price range, what are some good options?

Buy a good used or B-Stock receiver and spend more on speakers. 2805 around $600 shipped and 3805 around $700 shipped at Dakmart.

John Garcia is going to post his impressions of the SVS speaker package soon. I heard them and was very impressed. They'd mate well with the 2805 or 3805 and be right in your budget.

Someone pointed me to the Aperion Intimus 422/S-8 Compact Home Theater System, is this any good?

Right now, i'm leaning toward the setup Zumbo suggested though, it sounds very nice and just fits in my budget.

Thanks a lot of the help, I've been lost as someone new to this world.(my last system was an HTIB).

Do you mean that it sounds very nice because you listened to them, and compaired them to other speakers? What speakers did they sound beter than?

It's based off opinions and reviews scattered accross the net because I can't find anything locally that I can actually listen to. So I have to take a leap of faith and hope for the best.. i'm sure a lot of the people are in here because they're in the same situation. It's rough putting up that much money blindly!

But I decided to just go with the svs sbs01 5 speaker package before the price goes up and throw on the SVS PB12–ISD.

And I'm sure it's going to be a major upgrade from my HBIT at least :)

Price goes up TODAY, so you better jump on them! I think they will be a good match for that receiver.

Already placed the order about 12 hours ago. I want to run the speaker wiring in advance to have everything ready when it arrives, should I get 14 gauge speaker wire perhaps? I currently have 16gauge wires running to the speaker positions for my current HTIB, would those wires be sufficient or am I losing sound quality?

I'd go with 14 to be on the safe side (UL/CL3 in-wall rated if going in wall). 16 would work sufficiently, but 14 would be the insurance policy that you'll never have to worry. I don't think impedance is going to be an issue with these guys.
