Hello,
I Before I move into my new house I need to buy my sub, after I move in june I will spend my money else where fixing up the place and building a good listening room. (13 x 18)'ve looked up a few prices for subs and things that could be intresting. Any opinions or experience with any of these? Intented use mostly for movies but knowing myself I know that once I start listening to my music with the sub I will love it.

Any experience with these subs?

Paradigm PS1000 for 550$ Cnd
B&W 600 for 625$ Cnd
Velodyne DSP-10 for 425$ Cnd

Rest of my system for reference is all paradigm, 7 se mk3, cc-370 and Atom V.3 + Yamaha RXV1500.

Thanks for the help

Why not go with a HSU? I believe they are better quality than the ones you list there.

You missed out. The DPS-12 was 399 on christmas day. I grabbed one, and its shipping as we speak.

The DPS-10 might be a little of out is league with those other subs.

But I agree with MacMan. An Hsu STF-2 will perform as good if not better then those, for 399US, about 450 CAD before shipping (no duty, they have dealers in canada).

Would you even consider a SVS PB-10? If so, I would go that route. I just set up an HSU STF-2 for my mom - great sounding sound but it doesn't hold a candle to my SVS PB-10. just my $0.02

oh, and the Paradigm sub is not in these leagues... I love Paradigm speakers, but their subs leave a lot to be desired...

A PB-10 is around 750 CAD all said and done.

I've owned the B&W ASW600 for almost 2 years now, and have regretted the purchase for almost a year and a half. But lately it's really put a smile on my face. The main reason for my displeasure was a lack of tactile bass. My previous two listening positions either involved setting on a futon or single chair, however with the addition of a leather couch everything has changed ...the tactile bass I've been missing is now there and I am content for now. (I know this sounds like a load crap, but it’s true)

So what am I really saying? Well, the ASW600 is a solid performer within its specified frequency range when placed in smaller volume rooms; however it does not represent the best performance to price ratio. It you really want the most boom for your buck I would take a serious look at the offerings from SVS or HSU.

In short the ASW600 is a good sub, but I would not label it as exceptional.
