LG 44" DLP any good?

Alright I am new to the big screen world so I could use a little advice from the more experienced. My current screen is a 27" sharp TV, nice picture but too small.

I have my eye on the 44" LG DLP on page 2 of the FutureShop Boxing day sale, but there is absolutely no info on the TV including the model number. Just curious if anyone has this TV or knows what it is and if it is a good deal at @ $1499.

Should I be looking at another brand? From the reaseach I have done thus far the DLP seems to be the better of the big screens out there, I find the pictures a little sharper but I know its all personal preference.

What I don't want to deal with is ghosting or pixeling if an image moves to fast.


Any advice would be appreciated.

I have had the LG RU6144D for over a year and it has been a great display. I purchased an extended warranty but have not had any reason to use it. The HIDEF picture on my LG is as good as any DLP I have seen including he new 1080p units from Samsung, Sony and Mitsubishi. My viewing is mostly sports, HD and movies and for these, this is a great display.
