Question about a vented sub...

I came across something that I'd never put any thought into concerning the sub in my HT setup when I noticed the vent on the sub for my PC speakers faces out towards me. I have a 10" down-firing sub in a vented enclosure. In my mind, the side with the inputs & gain/crossover controls is the "back" of the sub, however, this also happens to be the side that the vent is on. Shed some light on this for me. Should the vent be facing at or away from the wall?

The vent can face any way. I have seen a vent on every side of a sub, top and bottom included.

You shoulder concern yourself with the position of the vent, just make sure the sub is set up correctly.
