YA difficult room

Great forum! But this you all know ;)

We recently moved into an apartment and I am interested in setting up a decent music listening environment. But absolutely completely *stuck* at how positioning the speakers or which kind of speakers to buy :(

The living room has existing tv/speaker outlets (layout in attached picture). Some features:

the south wall is top-to-bottom large windows
the complete left wall is N/A for speaker placement (as ordered by the misses)
no speakers/wires in the middle of the room
TV set is placed against a smaller U-shaped wall

I can put some small speakers (ie Orb audios) at places #1 & #2, but can they cover the complete room?
If I put speakers at places #3 and #4 as well, can the sound be correctly balanced then?

It is a primary music setup, but besides the TV, the speakers can perhaps double as HT setup as well?

Any suggestion is very much appreciated! :o

I can't help you with speaker choice, but I can tell you the best way to set up a room. You want the loudspeakers to fire the longer way down the room, as shown in the drawing below. Then set your listening position so your ears are 38 percent of the way from either the front or rear wall. That will get you the most even bass response. If you're really serious, you'll also want to add bass traps in the corners and treat the first reflection points on the side walls and ceiling with absorption. The first reflection point treatment is shown as pink colored panels in the drawing.
