CRT Calibration

How difficult or dangerous is it for someone with a good technical background, but is not certified, to mess with the settings in the service mode of a CRT TV? Basically I want to know if ther is anything I can do beyond the basic, contrast, picture, color... settings through normal user meneu to set chroma, and color temperatures etc. more accuratly to meet NTSC standards.

How hard is it to learn?
Or should I get this out of my head and just pay someone.

Pay someone... I had mine done and it took the guy over 7 hours to do it. It cost me $349 - the issue is that if you want it done correctly, then you have to have certain equipment, without that, you are only guessing...
