Here we go again, I can get a pair of brand new B&W DM604's for $950 OR $500 for the pair of Athena AS-F2.2's, the problem is that I do not know anything at all about the B&W's.

You can find a much better deal on the F2.2's I would think. I believe I only paid about 250 for mine, brand new from an authorized dealer :)

I've listened to the B&W 603 and 604. (but not your other choice)
get the B&W if:
-you can afford it (double the price?)
-if you listen to at least 50% music (and then 50% jazz/classical)
-bragging rights are important to you ... c'mon, athena and b&w?

The tastes in music are house and electronic music, the ONLY reason I was looking at the Athenas is because I have their BS2's as my rear surrounds and I have the ASC1 centre, if I get the B&W's for my fronts then I will have to deal with Athena not matching the fronts at least until I can afford the centre and rears

if that is the case, house and electronic music will be easily reproduced by other speakers at a fraction of the cost. for example, I compared the Infinity Beta 50 or 40 to B&W 603 or 604, but my taste in music is mostly r&b, pop and old school rap. so, infinity beta with its dual 8" woofers decided it for me.
now, Infinity is just an example. there are mega loads of other brands you should "hear" yourself.

well i will have an SVS sub to "assist" in the bass department but it's hard to pass up such a good deal on the B&W's, but if they are more then I need then it would be a waste of $$

well, 950 is way better than how much I can get it here (1200USD)
have you listened to the 604's yourself? if it sounds good to you, go for it! you can't go wrong with b&w's in terms of build quality

Below is a link to them for $400, that's the best one I could find authorized.
