View Full Version : B&W 704s Vs Axiom M60ti
Has anyone compared these two speakers? I'm very much interested in the axioms as they appear to be an excellent value, but I haven't heard them yet (they only sell direct).
I have heard the BW 704s and I like them a lot ... well I like the sound a lot, but not the price.
Just was wondering how the two compared?

I would say that I would stay away from th B&W's due to there cost. If your thinking about spending that much I would go with the M80s from Axiom before I spent that much on speakers that arent as good as their price would lead you to believe. But you may want to check some of the threads on Axioms web site some of the owners have compared the two and I think the results would surprise you.
Yeah, I pretty much resigned myself to not being able to afford the 704s, but I did like their sound. I listened to bostons and klips floorstanders in a similar price point as the M60s, but wasn't impressed at all.
Thanks for the input. :)

Axiom offers great customer service and a 30 day trial period. Consider an in-home audition of the M60s or M80s with your equipment. If you don't like them, you are only out the return shipping. Also, there is a section on their formum where you can arrange a demo with owners.
Keep in mind that the M80s are a 4 ohm load while the M60s are 8 ohms.
My final decision is the following pending how well they audition in my house:
Yamaha RX-V2500
M60ti mains
VP150 center
EP500 sub
S8 surrounds
I have a very average sized room I'm using so most would say (even the axiom guy I talked to on the phone) I'm going overkill as it is.
Thanks again for your input.:)

If you wander over to the Message Boards on the Axiom site, there is a list of Axiom owners who are willing to have people over to audition their setup. Hopefully you can find someone close to where you live.
Here's the link,

That should be a killer setup. If you want more power you could always upgrade the mains to the M80s, but your receiver might have trouble with the 4 ohm load, so the M60s are a safe bet.
