Great movie a lot of action (I don't comment to much of plot and acting because that is ones personal opinion). Great picture and even better sound (DTS baby). Some great scenes to show off both your sub and your surrounds. Very good use of surrounds you will hear things clear passing right pass you then slide 20ft past you on the ground(even though the back wall is only 10ft behind you lol). Very clear and realistic bass not boomy at all like a movie that recently came out WoW. check it out and make sure you set it to DTS.

Yah I got it today too!
It is a completely unrealistic action flick with lots of guns, explosions, and cheesy lines, but it was entertaining and yeah, having DTS is always a plus!
Not to mention having AJ, yowza!

what movie (boomy bass)?
A subwoofer will turn bass "boomy" before a DVD does.

My daughter saw it in the theater and said it was crap, and she's usually easy to please when it comes to Angelina and Brad.

I actually kinda liked it. By no means was it great.
By chance the night I watched it, I tried to watch Polar Express right after.
Problem was, I fell asleep 3 times on PE.
I understand from a lot of people that it is a good movie. So I will have to give it another try...

As a voice of experience, you need to have been married for a while to get some of the humor. My wife and the couple we went to the movie with all enjoyed it. The humor is related to a married couple who gets bored with each other. It's not till their secret employment becomes known does the movie become more action packed. Also, B & A really did have electricity. It's obvious this movie is where they got "hooked up".
Call me after 20 years of marriage and we'll talk.

I liken this movie to the Charlie's Angels movies. Check your brain at the door and you'll be alright. Just don't expect anything realistic to take place. I personally am tired of movies of this type and wish someone could make an action movie with more substance and intelligence.

I just watched it and I gotta say I liked it. While I wouldn't nominate it for any Oscar, it was a fun movie and I enjoyed the sound a lot...

I am really suprised at what people like and don't like these days in movies. I actually thought this movie to be relatively entertaining. I am pretty sure it was not meant to be realistic as much as it wsa meant to be fun. I have never heard anyone say that a James Bond movie wasn't good because it was too unrealistic. I am pretty sure these types of films are meant to be somewhat tounge and cheek. It seems that audiences these days either don't pick up on that sort of thing or that the filmmakers sre not as good at communicating dark, dry, sacastic humor. Even though this film was a bit over the top with secret asassin organizations, it was still fun to watch.
The sound was very good. I enjoyed the effects and the way they were employed in the DTS soundtrack. I actually thought the parts in the marriage counslers office were quite funny. Don't get me wrong I didn't feel that this was going to win any Academy Awards or anything, but I didn't think that it was a complete piece of trash either.

***warning!!! spoilers ahead!!***
If James Bond had a knife thrown at him and it penetrated his flesh about 2 or 3 inches, at least the director had the good sense to instruct his actor to wince in pain a little bit. :D That's really all I ask. Is that asking too much?? I also don't recall Bond hiding in a tent and waiting for dozens of operatives to surround him so that he could jump out and shoot them all dead. James Bond would also miss with the occasional bullet. Not Pitt and Jolie. The elevator scene? The grappling hooks fired across the sky that penetrate concrete and allow Jolie and her hot chick posse to escape? Everytime I think of something, 5 other ridiculous somethings pop into my head. I can't think about this movie anymore, it's too frustrating!!! Stop the madness!!!!!!!!!!
Okay, my rant is over. This movie is no different than dozens of other recent action movies. I don't know why I'm getting so worked up over this one. I just want some laws of physics to be obeyed and I want the stars to be a little bit less than completely invincible. I can dream I guess.

I enjoyed the first 2/3rds of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, but then again I've been through a divorce. I found the dialogue between the two funny, and the action was all meant in fun, certainly not to be taken seriously. However when they reconciled and it turned into a standard spy/assassin movie, it kinda nosedived. It should have stayed a comedy throughout.

Wow. Everything you complained about were the reasons I loved this movie. I loved how Pitt, when stabbed with the knife, DIDN'T whince in pain, just looked irritated as if that was just one more irritation by his wife in a day long series of irritations by her. I can relate! I enjoyed the elevator scene. The juxtaposition of their life and death struggle as they waited bored and listening to musak was priceless IMO.
Yes, a lot of it was over the top. but so what? That's what makes these kinds of movies fun. You want intelligence, go watch some foreign flick. Not sure why you were watching this in the first place if this stuff irritates you anyway. ;)
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and plan to go out and buy it.

Pardon me in advance for talking about the relative strengths and weaknesses of particular movies in this forum , which was intended for audio and video discussions.
Again I reiterate that I continue to be suprised at what people like and don't like in films. I would place Mr. and Mrs. Smith in the same catagory as True Lies. Both of these films are completely ridiculous while still being entertaining. They are by no means intended to be taken seriously and they use allegory to make light of our everyday ordinary lives by contrasting the wildy crazy lifestyle against our reality and showing that the very simple problems of everyday life still exist even in extreme circumstances.
Now, when the plot holes in a film are a mile wide and the characters aren't developed or do things that are completely out of context to the story or character, then this really irritates me. Films like Ronan or Spy Game attemp to be real with extreme circumstances, but these films are of a completely different genre.
If you compare something like Charlie and the Chacolate Factory or Harry Potter to Mr and Mrs. Smith then you can easily see that in story telling you musn't always obey the laws of physics to tell a story. If the story is attempting to be real then that is one thing, but when the world is one of James Bond or Star Wars you have to realize the context in which the story is being told. Neither of these examples have realistic portrayals of real people, obey the laws of physics or have statistically possible odds or circumstances in which they take place. They are intended to be extrodinary.
Suspending belief is part of the fantasy of movies. I agree, the circumstances in which Mr. and Mrs Smith took place, and they way they conducted their buisness was pretty out there. After watching the first half hour of the movie I was clear on the level of realism that was expected to see the rest of the film. This was not a stellar film to begin with, but it was decent and somewhat entertaining. IMHO
Movies are movies, no more no less. Most of them are pretty bad. Once in a great while an excellent one comes by. We can either make them ourselves or suffer whatever comes our way.:D :D

Hmm, you are not pardoned. J/K.:p
Please note: This is the exact place to talk about this stuff.
Movies, DVDs & Theatricks
This is the place for DVD-Video, Laserdiscs and all things that go WOMP! in the night. Found an easter egg? Want to recommend a DVD? Waiting for the 5th episode of Lethal Weapon to come out?
Granted it could go in the steam vent as well.

Sheep, I didn't really mean boomy but the bass they made for WoW was not very good and they used the same bass sound the entire movie no matter what was going on. And I don't think my SVS PC-Plus could even make a boomy sound if it wanted to.
As for Mr. and Mrs. Smith you have to go in to the movie knowing its not going for realistic its going for laughs and explosive action and it did what it set out too. The scene where they are breaking into kidnap that kid (tank) and he is wearing a fight club shirt was pretty funny to me. Thats what I hate about critics they bash a ton of movies that are not setting out to win a award but for some laughs and some great action scenes. A example of this would be Sin City yes it got alot of good reviews but the bad reviews were from people saying thats not possible or too much gore and I didn't like the black and white stuff thats what the movie was suppost to be all about don't review it if you don't get it. Enough with my rant, best quote of the movie comes from Vince Vaughn " Mom! We are on high alert here. I almost killed you right there!"
