Hello,

As you all know, I live in BC. The cold, wet, hockey..."crazy" place.

But, not anymore.

I woke up today at around 6:50AM to see nothing but white.

I must say, its not christmas without snow. :)

These pictures were taken around 7:00AM.

(the non flash one is blurry, but I have no tripod. :D )

Take off eh!

Yea, I have the same white poop going on here too...

Sure is a far cry from the weather we had last week when it was plus 20C. Oh well, it's only -12C this morning and that's the forcast high for the day...but hey, this is Calgary, give it a few hours and it can be plus 15C again although I know that's really wishfull thinking on my part. :(

I HATE winter! I was born in the wrong place...;)

Ha, I don't miss that stuff one bit. Growing up in Iowa left no doubt in my mind that I'd be a happy man never to see snow again.....that's why I moved to the desert.:p

Isn't the desert a place where animals go to die? :p

I like having climate changes. Its not hard to drive in (took my road test in a blizzard....and passed), and if you like your phony holiday's so be it, I like mine real! :)

I am just south of you in WA. We got maybe an inch in town, more out in the county, but its already starting to melt.

It so funny here compared to the midwest wher I grew up. Like I said we got a whole inch of snow and schools are starting two hours late. If we had got two inches they would have cancled school all together.

I remeber going to school with well over 6 inches fresh snowfall on the ground. The only time they cancled school back east was when there was blowing and drifting so deep the busses could not run or the windchill was colder than -40 degrees.

I AGREE!

I have finished grade school, and only ONCE did school shut down. I lived very close to the school, but we couldn't move. My street has a hill, and it was hopeless.

My highschool was a good 2 - 3 K away and it NEVER closed in the snow, Not even when there was a foot, or more.

If you guys want, you can post a picture of your christmas lights in this thread. It will be the Official, Show off your house thread. I just finished putting the rest of our lights up, and I will take a picture later when its dark.

So, if you have em, Show em off! :)

We got 7-8 inches of heavy wet snow (that stayed on the ground) about 2 weeks back in WI. It is a good thing the ground is not frozen yet, as 2-4 inches melted as it hit the ground. If not for that, we would have had a foot or more. My power was out for 31-1/2 hours. My parents were without power for 43 hours. It is a good thing we both have a generator for neccesseties. I hate the snow, but I live with it, as the area is beautiful.

But I am in shorts this very second. Its no cooler than 76 at the moment.(only because its raining)
Yesterday was about 80.
Ft. Laud. Fl. (yeah it sucks, specially since I am from N.Y.)
I do miss a true white Christmas. I have been here in FL. for a sadly 20 years.

Here in coastal Oregon, we're just south and west of the really cold stuff. We're just all wet, lol. ;) But there is a pretty cool lighting show going on right now that would be the envy of any Iowan.

And I thought you might like to see what rainbows look like in Oregon. The color is correct. Haven't taken this year's Christmas light pic yet. Here's on from last year. Better show this year....of course. ;)

EDIT: For some reason the browser won't allow multiple pic uploads. I'll try again. Interesting rainbow, eh?

I live in Northern Virginia and now that I have kids in school (close enough to walk to) I listen to the weather and noticed that whenever the weatherman on the tube says it MIGHT snow, schools in Fairfax county are closed faster than I can get to the fridge for a cold one during an NFL time out.

It dosen't actually have to snow, someone just has to think it might.

Heh. we actually got snow on christmas day last year. First time I'd seen snow in about a decade. And now, I'll be in Calgary in Feb.

So I guess I'll get my fill of it. :) (good thing cold don't tend to bother me)

Now if I can just afford some Flames tickets................................

A little dusting over here on the island, mostly in Nanaimo and the Malahat...not much here in Victoria.

after the blizzard of '99, we never say "we never get snow in Victoria!!"...

Hey, I didn't force you to florida. or Houston.

I find snowboard boots are the best snow shoes ever made.

I walked up a 90 degree hill today and didn't slip.....then I jumped over my house....but seriously, they have great traction, and are comfy to boot(no pun indended :) )

yeah, but you don't tend to find specialized boots like that in a size 15. :)
