View Full Version : Is the Denon 2910 Firmware Update necessary???

Hello

So i am on my third Denon 2910. First one was sold to me as new but turned out to be used. Second one had a white bar going down the left hand side of the screen.

I did the firware update on them both. The model i have now is working great. Do i mess with it and do the upgrade or just leave it?

What does the update do and if I am using a tube TV, component video, no HDMI doe it really matter?

If it ain't broke don't fix it i am thinking....

Opinions please from any one who has done the upgrade. can i get the old firmware back if it messes up my player???

If you aren't having problems with specific discs, I'd leave it alone.

There have been many fixes including revamped IRE and help with macroblocking.

Depending on the build date of the firmware in your current player it may be useful to upgrade.

All I have to say is, I did the update on my 2900 and while it fixed problems I did have, now there are new ones. Before and after, the issues were minor, but they're still there. Read up on the update and if you aren't having the issues that it fixes, I would probably skip it. If you ARE having any of those issues, then it's worth while.

I am not having any issues. Just in search of better i guess, like we all are.:) :)

What issues are you having? The first 2910 i had had a white bar down the side after the upgrade. i am wondering if this upgrade is for HDMI only and effects component in a negative way.

The update was to fix errors with specific discs and a few other minor things, but now I have errors with other discs, mostly older ones and one particular SACD (but my 222ES is a better SACD player anyway, so no biggie). I don't have any video problems, but the 2900 doesn't have HDMI anyway, nor does my TV (DVI only).

What is the very latest version of 2910 firmware now? also thinking about region free firmware.
