Anyone know where to get quality optical cable cheap.

You guys already gave me great advice to buy speaker wire at Westlake.

Parts Express. I have one of the super-cheap 6 foot cables and it works just fine for my DVD player. If you see yourself doing a lot of plugging/unplugging with your cables, you might do better getting the more heavy-duty cables. But if this is going to be connected and forgotten about, then you should be just fine with the cheap ones.

I wouldn't go with one of the super-duper plastic ferrule el-cheapos (they work, but they are fragile), but any of the $6-10 ones that have a decent connector should work fine. I've used the AR Pro2 6' ones for $16 from www.ac4l.com in a number of installs and they work great.

I only went that route because I was on a super low budget. Besides, my equipment and cables don't move, ever. So I'm not worried about the build quality. If it was in a more dynamic system (not the sound), then I'd want something more heavy duty.

I have one of those $3 guys that I've been using for years for testing and such. I used it with my PS2 for a while and it seems to work fine. I still don't like the plastic ferrules though.

I bought two of the cheap models from PE. First one didn't work, and at first thought I had a set up problem. Changed out for the second cable and it worked. They overnighted a replacement cable at no charge.
