I'm looking for a good speaker system on a budget to pair with a soon to be purchased Pioneer VSX-1015TX. I would like to find a good set of speakers for around $600 but if that isn't possible i'd like to stay below $1000.
Current room size right around 300 sq ft with vaulted ceilings.
I'm looking for something that will last for a while.
Any help will be appreciated greatly
Thanks

An speaker with a high sensitivity will help you there. For your price reange I would look at te BIC Acoustech Speakers. Do a search on these forums for them you find lots of info. I believe at sound distributions you can get the system for $776 shipped (5.1) If you watch UBid you can get it much cheaper though. Towers are on sale right now for $150 + $50 S/H. These are horn speakers so if you want an idea of what they sound like go listen to some klipsh speakers.

If not the Acoustechs, the BIC Venturi system can also be had for a very reasonable price. For bookshelves, I would recommend the DV62si models and a DV62CLR for a center. If you want towers, the DV84s are also great, and can be had for a good price.
My suggestion is to go to various HT/AV stores and listen to some speakers both in and out of your price range. Be sure to take some of your preferred music and or DVD movies with you for demo. Once you have found what you like, the buy decision is much easier. If you don't mind used there are bargains to be had on some brands/models that you may think are not affordable. AudiogoN and E-Bay are good sources for these.
There is a lot of component upgrading in this hobby and that creates an opportunity for those willing to take the risk (and there is some). My belief is to buy as much speaker (especially your mains) as you can afford. Good Luck and have fun.
