View Full Version : Klipsch vs Def Tech
Ok, I think I have it down to Klipsch RVX42 (3)/RW12 Sub/RSX5(2) or the Def Tech Mythos2 (2)/Mythos3 Center/Mythos Surround/PS100 Sub both powered by a Yamaha RXV2500. I want to pair up with my Pioneer Elite 50" Plasma (Brand new toy :D ) and Pioneer Elite DVD. Any advice one way or the other? Options I should consider?
Thanx

Have you listened to both and found what you prefer? That should be the deciding vote.
That said, you may want to check out Leon Speakers (www.leonspeakers.com). Their Plasma style speakers are built to color and depth match your plasma exactly. I think that's pretty cool...
Yes, I have listened to both but not in my room. The room is a 22 by 18 two story great room. I am afraid the Klipsch my sound too bright and that I will need a much bigger sub.

Oh yeah. You're gonna need a beefy sub to work with that volume of airspace. In terms of budget and everything, I really think that SVS (www.svsubwoofers.com) would fit the bill. What kind of acoustics does your room have? Is it fairly dead, or live? Hardwood floors, carpeting, bare walls, etc?

The Def Techs are a more neutral speaker and will work well in your space. That is a LARGE space to fill. I would suggest you go with a better price/performance sub (HSU or SVS) and consider a second one as well. The Def Tech ProSubs just don't have the power/driver ratio to fill your space adequately.
The room is carpeted with a brick ceiling to floor fireplace perpendicular to where the plasma and front speaker will be mounted. Not much on the walls (not yet anyway and I begging my wife to keep it that way!). I have not heard the HSU sub yet but another option may be to disassemble my personal system in the basement and bring up the B&Ws......but my wife really wants something that looks slick next to the Pioneer plasma. I think for once we may agree! :)
