Have you ever just "lost it"?

This being the "steam vent", I feel it is more then appropriate for this thread.

Early today, I was working on my resume, cause I was laid off last monday, and I got to thinking about how crappy my week as been. Last friday my car got totaled (although I will be reimbursed, it's still an agrivation) and then my job. I was mad, and my right eyelid started twichting. It calmed down and so did I, or I thought. A stupid annoying crane fly (looks like a giant mosquito) start flying around my face when I was enjoying some television. It had me so frustrated I hit it so hard with my hand downwards it splattered on my floor. I then struck it once, hard, with my shoe. I then stood up and said "What im a doing? It's dead, it didn't need a second shot."

Sometimes the smallest things can get the best (or should I say worst) of you.

Anyone else have a story they would like to share on "when button pushing goes bad"?

I've lost it a few times. Luckily, I have kids and pets to take it out on, so I spare innocent insects. :D

Last week a kid at school where i work took a packet of mustard and put a line of it down the back of my shirt. VP told him not to do that and that was it. I didnt lose it. Latter a parent cussed me out infront of the kids but i didnt lose it. I reported her and they told her everything would be ok. Almost ready to go home and i catch a student taking my stem caps off all my tires. I knew who he was as he ran away and now i'm pissed. I cussed him pretty good. Next day i was called into the Prin office and the parent was in there of that kid. Because of my cussing at the kid,i was given 2 days without pay and a written letter in my file.

A year ago I lost my (very good) job and things really spiralled downward from there. The good news is that after a year or so of hell, I now have a better job that I don't hate and I've never been happier. You just gotta hang in there, things will get better. Not because things do, but because "luck will often enough save a man if his courage holds." Yeah, that's a gratuitous The 13th Warrior quote! :D

:D Surely this has to be a joke . . . if it isn't, I deem your life "hilarious." Please post more tragic life stories as they occur. Thank you.

No joke. Want another. Couple of years ago a big 3rd grader was not doing as he should on the playground. For whatever reason i was sent to take him to the office. Holding his hand he is swinging at me with his free one but missing. Tried to bite but i was to strong. With his free hand he gets ahold of my wristwatch and tears it off my wrist and throws it to the ground and its now parts. Get him to the office, the Prin comes out, takes him into her office and starts to rock him in her lap telling him everything will be ok. I asked about my watch and the VP said to look in the lost and found to replace it. To say the district treats us like crap is an understatement.

.....Shokhead, it sounds like the administration of the school where you teach has it in for you....whether that's warranted only you know, but if I were you, I would try to transfer to a different school in the district....life's too short to put up with that kind of treatment from kids and their parents, and it be endorsed by your immediate bosses.....

.....aaaaaaaaand Happy Labor Day, ALL....profiteering gas prices have made us take an attitude of conservation with it's use, sure....but if nothing else, fry some chicken, make some potato salad, a jug of tea, and take the food and drink out in the back yard under a shade tree and call it a picnic.....

And to think when the guidance counsellor suggest I think about teaching I laughed in her face and called her a "F******crazy crack w****." Naturally I was suspended, but years later I can look back, reinforced with tales of woe from todays teachers, and know I made the right choice.

If you didn't know that the public school system was heading this way since the early ninties, well, you're pretty oblivious or don't have kids. (I personally plan to send my kids to one of those Catholic schools that can beat children to death if they need it. I'll convert to Catholocism if I need to).

EDIT: I understand this is the steam vent, but this is a family forum. Please keep it clean.

I'm a Plant Manager and non-union. They are afraid to not have a student in school because of money. I'm a throw away.

My kids middle school principal didn't take SH!T from the students. He retired and his replacement is even tougher. Test scores are coming up. I have a lot of respect for what they are beginning to accomplish. I just wish they kept after the teacher's poor academics. I have one that I jokingly referred to a as a member of the flat earth society. She gave my daughter zero on her geography map, because she showed europe/asia to the left of north america. She said, and I quote, "everybody knows that europe is to the right of north america" <sigh>. then there was the math teacher, who sent home the poor test to show us how bad she was doing. Unfortunately, while she still flunked, he made several grading errors, including several unsolvable problems. He actually listened, and my daughter never had another problem in that class. Science class, the teacher gave them an unsolvable problem and when I sent a note (nicely written btw) requesting clarification, got a verbal message back that the assignment was perfectly clear. In contrast the other kid was in a charter school, and the teacher had an unsolvable problem, answered her email within minutes of my sending it, confirmed my concern, and said she would give all the kids credit for the problem. My wife and I are extremely involved and literally become PITA's to the administration. So, when there's a grading error, it makes it mucho easier to get it corrected. One of thier fav teachers is extremely good, so good we asked him at the end of the year how to help our oldest move forward with some studying issues. He had hoped to get the new open VP position, but an outsider was brought in. I told him that while the outsider may not have been the best choice, he is so good, it would be a disservice to the kids for him to not continue teaching. He also coaches the XC team. We're waiting to see how the youngest performs this year, she showed extreme potential last year, literally blowing away the competition, to the point where we stand around dumbfounded by her times.

The beatings might be good for them, but I draw the line at the sexual abuse.

I used to work for a school. (Actually, several over the years, but that is irrelevant to my point.) Notice the tense of verb in my first sentence. I suggest the same, as it sounds like you are having serious trouble. (You could also talk to a lawyer about suing the school for a hostile work environment, though that will cost you some money, and, depending on all of the details, it may do you no good at all.) No one should have to put up with what you have been put through.

Hmm, thats strange....

This is what is posted for the steam vent.
Talk about anything you'd like here. Or, if you've got a beef, or you just want to vent some audio steam... come on in. This is the only place you won't get in trouble for flame wars - all other places are off limits.
Are we making up new rules, as we go along?????

Clearly not a democracy... People that come to mind.. Stalin, Hitler.....
I thought there was freedom of speech in this area of thread posts..

Unless you were kidding???????????
