I need a temporary TV for my second HT room and have an opportunity to pick up this unit for a great price. It will only be used for movies. Does anyone know if the Samsung 50" Plasma is decent? I primarly care about picture quality. I'm not looking for top notch performance, but something that is reasonably good.

Well I just bought the Sammy 4262 at a great price too and its fine so far. I havent calibrated it yet either. Panasonic is popular but I saved alot and I cant see a difference for the price.

There is more of a markup on panasonics than samsungs... Basically the same tv.

The Samsung has a good picture and if you got it for a good price, then you got a good deal. Like I always tell everyone with plasma, watch for the screen burn-in! It is easy to do and warranties don't cover it so be careful!

Samsung makes good plasmas. I've seen them rated above Panasonics, and only behind Pionner. They make the plasmas for Dell, so their reputation and quality is pretty good.
