Sort by budget/ expertise.
I don't want to read about someone's problems if he only
has $600 to spend. Nor do I want to wade through
explanations about capacitance vs.inductance.
I just want to zoom in.

Then you are in the wrong place. We don't classify people by how much they can spend. We talk about the merits of the technology and the various products that implement that technology regardless of price.

So what's the problem? If you do not like this forum, go somewhere else.

Nor was I being mean-spirited.
Nor was I complaining about content.
I simply suggested that it would be helpful
for those of us who actually take time to read
through hundreds of pages of dialogue if we
could go more directly to the info we seek.

Try a search for big numbers. Like "$XXXXX to spend" would that be more pertinant for you. Then you would only have to read those posts.

I agree, it would be nice to sort things out a bit. The problem with that is that quite a few of our readers feel that their scenario is different than everyone else. So without spending time searching for their answer they start a new thread. It can be annoying, which is why we decided to post the thread mentioned at the end of this post. I am sure for some searching this site can be almost as confusing as making the "big purchase". So I guess the best answer for your dilema is to be considerate and help out with the new members even if you have answered their question in another thread.
