Does upconversion work through component outputs, or, as I suspect, is upconversion functional only if you have a DVI or HDMI input on your display?

depends on the particular model, if you can pick up one of the first ones that came out you shouldn't have a problem. Some of the new ones require you to use HDCP DVI or an HDMI and some of the lesser known brands will work through component.

Both the NeuNeo will upconvert through component output up to 1080p
That is the HVD-2081 and The new one HVD-2085
Neither require a HDCP and the 2085 is completely region free.

EDIT::: Thanks for a negative on this post???? Lowering my rep by telling the truth. I can only wonder why. Clearly some arse, needs to step up.

See below, I wish you would leave a comment.

Next question, Brian: Does upconversion of 480p to 1080i noticeably improve picture quality?

Depends on the Player. Yes I notice a little difference. With the 2 Samsung HD-841's I had noticed very little difference (Those 2 were crap), with the NeuNeo there is a difference. remember that I use a 120" screen. I am thinking of buying the new NeuNeo 2085. So that shows enough there that I am happy with there products. How many people here can say they have bought a upgraded Oppo???
