I have a Samsung HD-841. It is junk. I have the video through DVI and I am going to try it through component video. I didn't notice how weak this unit was until I put it on a 48" Mits HDTV.

Any dark tones look absolutely terrible; starts to get blotchy and blocky. Sound is good (after I figured out I had PCM selected instead of bitstream, just a wee bit difference ;) )

I watch HDTV HBO movies, talk about spoiled. They look incredible. Then I turn the Samsung DVD player on and cringe at the visual artifacting.

Put me out of my misery. Suggest a DVD player that is similar in features for a similar price (<$200) that doesn't have the same picture quality as a Barbie DVD player (if there is such a thing). Thanks.

The oppo DVD player gets insane reviews, only the Denon 5910 beat it in one test. Also the Panasonic S77. The Panasonic plays just about everything under the sun except SACD and can be had for under $200 online from an authorized dealer no problem. There is the Panasonic s97 which is very highly regarded as well, it sells for about $250 online.

I read that DVD Player review, can't believe out of all those players the Oppo was only defeated by a $3500 dollar beast.
