I'm considering an upgrade in my soundcard for my IBM laptop. I'd much much prefer PCMCIA due to the fact that it won't take up desk space. I will consider one just for the fact that I'd like a line-in. But, I was wondering if these soundcards are an improvement over stock soundcards? I've thus far been recommended echo audio indigo and e-mu 1616. I'm also considering the creative audigy 2 zs.
let me know if anyone has experience!

When it comes to PC sound creative is the only way to go.

Have you had experience with the specific product? Have you compared it to any other brands? Basically, whats backing your statement; I'd like some more details so I can make a more educated decision.

Well for starters there products and specs are far superior and every software/game application will be supported. One more thing soundblaster/creative have been the only quality sound product in the PC market for the last 15 years.

For PC this is leaps and bounds over the competition, but you do need it for your laptop so head over to the site and see what they have.

If I had coin to drop on a laptop sound system, I'd buy any card with a digital out, a small DAC, and a small headphone amp. Laptops are NOISY when it comes to analog audio output. Yeah, it's not compact, but it wouldn't be annoying like my laptop.

Jaxvon, even replacement cards tend to be noisy? The stock ones can be terrible, this i know. i'd be tempted to get all that stuff if I didn't already have a recevier and my laptop on my desk.
