I am at a crossroads...should I go with:
Athena POINT 5 MK II PLUS AS-P4000 (or Candence XSUB)
*OR*
BIC DV62 = Four DV62si + DV62CLR-S Center + V1215 Sub
My rooms is 11x20x9 - carpet and drywall - 70% movies, 30% music - Pioneer vsx-815, Pioneer dv-588a.
Thoughts? Thanks.

I would go with the BIC system (heck...it's what I have). Not sure if the BIC sub or the Cadence would be better. The price difference between the Cadence and the BIC isn't that big, and the Cadence has a beefier amp. The Point 5 series is weak in the satellites, IMHO. Those little midranges won't be able to crank out the sound like you want.

BIC. You'd have to step up to the Audition Series in the Athena's to compare to that BIC setup. And even then, it's a tough call. I don't think the V1215 is available any longer. It think it's been replaced with the V1220. The MKII is a "pretty" system, and has a very high WAF. You just can't compare 4" drivers to 6.5".

I respectfully disagree.
The Athena system will surprise you. I believe it is a perfect match for your room. The sound is absolutely amazing. The Athena system is very capable of solid performance in the room you have. I would agree, in a larger room the Athena system would start to show its weakness.
Go with Athena, you will not be dissapointed.

Sorry, but I disagree. The BIC setup will do a much better job IMO. The DV62 series is a well built, great sounding series.

Don't mean to divert the thread but speaking of Athena Point 5, how do they compare to Athena Micra6 for a room 16x14, 80% dvds and 20% music?
Also, any opinions on Infinity Primus Theater Pack?
Thanks!

Although the Point 5's are a great sounding system, they might have some trouble filling a room as big as yours.
You can put together a set of last year's Athena Audition line for approximately the same price as the Point 5 system.
$330 gets you: (http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?sku_id=BDL10000982&catid=14700&logon=&langid=EN) an AS-C1 center, a pair of AS-B1 bookshelves, and a pair of AS-R1 dipole surrounds.
$200 gets you: (http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10030982&catid=10554) the same AS-P300 8" subwoofer that's included in the Point 5 system bundle, but there are better choices available for only slightly more. The 10" AS-P4000 is looking to be a great performer for $400.

Assuming you're not in an overly bright room, that'd be about the perfect size for the Point 5 system. I had them in a 15x12 room and they sounded great. In fact, I still have the S.5's as my side and rear surround speakers because of their excellent mounting system.

Great feedback from all...I've learned more in my first week here that I ever could've imagined. My eyes have been opened to a great wonderful EXPENSIVE world!! :)
