View Full Version : Hey Buckeye, Heres my equipment

Granted, like I said- Nothing is really set-up. These pics are just to show the equipment. Even took projector (that was packed away) back out of box. These are all unaltered photos. And the colors of the projector has NOT been set-up. I have Video Essentials, but no sense in setting it up, as I have to box everything back up for the move. Some details on the pics, you will see 1/4 of my ceiling bracket for the projector (that must come down). The projector that was quickly set up on table. My 18" movie dolls (pic 41). A lot of the packaged boxes. Areas of the condo with work going on (one wall had wallpaper stripped), The 120" projection screen with Toy Story Playing. My Sharper Image Ijoy Turbo 2 massage chair and matching massage ottoman.

ALSO, will show for the non believers how much of an angle you can see the front projection picture (not a rear projection tv). I took that picture as far away and at about a 75degree angle (picture 33). With no picture quality loss. You can see where the room is in relation to the angle I took in picture 62. Other than WHO would ever need to watch a movie at up to a 90degree angle. (Basically this was for another poster that said image would disapear)

These picture are quite large AND I highly only recommend a fast internet connection. Some pictures are way smaller than others....

Also if I need the space on my server, I will delete a few of the larger pics....

Please excuse the mess, I'm in the middle of upgrading condo, and have been living like a slob. You will see my bookcases as well. And they are bare, because most items are boxed away/ awaiting the move into new house with HT built into that place, or rather HT set-up for that place. Couch/chairs/tables/etc.. are already gone into storage. When projector is mounted on ceiling, you can stand up in the middle of the room and just slightly get about 1" of the top of your head into the screen. Just saying that when mounted above you can walk in front of screen without disturbing others...

Just redid some of the pictures for smaller size, now most are small enough even for dial-up.

Oh BTW, I also have 2 other systems packed away. A Sony and a Onkyo. One will go to brother, the other to my mother.

(just checked) The Sony is not yet packed away, so I added a pick of it in closet. But just the back of it. Its a STR-D711.

The front looks like this (decided to turn it on and around) Now, I will box it up...

That is going to be one heck of a HT. I need that chair, oh God do I need that chair. It looks like you're starting a speaker shop in that room. Good luck with it all.

Well not quite a speaker shop, and I'm giving it all away.

The chair, I bought mainly to outdo my friend. But the cupholder and the electric recline are nice. Also the massage is just like a person doing it.

That sounds awesome. Installed wiring is the way to go, though a big PITA at first. The look and convenience of it later on will definitely pay off. I look forward to seeing your pictures!

Brian,

Thanks for all the pix. You didn't have to go to all that work, but it's fun to see others equipment. You have quite the collection.

So how did you like those Onkyo towers? They look a lot like the Athena's at Best Buy that I dislike so much. That seems like a pretty good size sub for a HTIB.

That screen is HUGE.

Are you putting in new drywall, or using existing? Reason I ask, is if you have a choice, use 5/8". I'm in the construction biz, and put up quite a bit of it. If you use 5/8" and screw it (as opposed to nail it) with heavy R19, you'll never have that "hollow sound" issue.

Best of luck with everything. Hope it all goes smoothly. Your new Pioneer should have no trouble with the Fluance speakers, and your new sub will do wonders in your custom recliner!

Brian,

Looks like you're going to end up with quite a setup. Keep the pics coming as you git 'r' done. What are the horizontal and vertical measurments on that screen? Bet you can't wait to get it all finished. I'm in the process of doing some upgrading and will post some new pics in a month or so.

Man, I just love the way that 120 screen fills up that wall.

My neighbor has got a 120 screen and his image is HUGE. Setup limitations kept me at 110, but I always wonder about a 120. :)

Cant wait to see your room move along as it progresses, too.

Yeah, I have a 96" as well. But I'm much happier with the 120". I may go the route of a fixed 120" with a masking system. Most or rather as much as possible I try to get movies in 4:3 format. I do like the movies in 16:9, but rather than see wider, I prefer taller. The Toy Story movie I have a picture of above is in 16:9 format. Which on the 120" screen ends up being 110".

Its good to fill up the screen, but I think you lose some video quality by going 4:3 versus 16:9. Ive only bought widescreen DVDs (but I do have 3 widescreen TVs.)

Honestly, I really see little difference in vid, quality from 4:3 or 16:9. And almost no (if any) degredation from a 96" compared to a 120". And I'm up to 1300+ movies.... To many I know..

Yes, and its a matter of preference on the picture ratio. Some people do prefer 4:3 and others 16:9. I havent really looked too hard to notice it myself. A few of my kids (gifted) movies are 4:3 and they look pretty good on their TVs.

Oh awesome! That sony receivers GUI looks like my dads old sony that we had....i remember nothing about it except the GUI. Now i know what models to look for (my dads was a bit different)

Damn setup keeps changing on me... Now it is up to selling the condo, not doing the seperate room for a temp solution at my mothers house. And now its just at starting from scratch. So here is the newest plans.. Look at post #7 at this thread...
