Hey guys I have yet another question about the t-amps.
I see various reviews comparing TP20 to TP22 etc
However was wondering if anyone could comment ( or link me ) to a direct comparison of the TP60 and TP20?
On that note a question: TP20 specs:
Output power: 23 watts x 2 (4 ohms, 10% THD) • Tripath TA2020 T-Amp IC • Signal-to-noise ratio (SNR): 98 dB • Dynamic range: 98 dB • IHF-IM Distortion: 0.1% @ 1 watt (4 ohms) • THD Distortion: 0.03% @ 9 watts (4 ohms), 0.1% @ 10 watts (4 ohms), 0.1% @ 6 watts (8 ohms), 10% @ 23 watts (4 ohms), 10% @ 13 watts (8 ohms) • Power efficiency: 81% @ 20 watts (4 ohms), 88% @ 12 watts, (8 ohms) • Input sensitivity: 200 mV • RCA audio input jacks • Power indicator (Blue LED) • Dimensions: 3.54" W x 1.97" H x 6.38" D (90 x 50 x 162 mm).
TP60 specs
Power output: 2 x 80W (into 4Ω @ 10% THD), 2 x 48W (into 4Ω @ 0.1% THD), 2 x 50W (into 8Ω @ 10% THD), 2 x 27W (into 8Ω @ 0.1% THD) • Dynamic range: 102 dB • Signal-to-noise ratio: 98 dB • Power efficiency: 81% @ 80W into 4Ω, 88% @ 50W into 8Ω • Input sensitivity: 200 mV • Weight: 11 lbs. • Dimensions: 11.375" (288.9 mm) L x 6.625" (168.28 mm) W x 3.375" (85.73 mm) H.
Why in the TP20 is more power (23watt) able to go into 4 ohms and int he TP60 the greater amount of power goes into 8ohms (8watts).
I thought power would have to increase into lower impedence in both? Or visa versa... I just dont get why its following a different pattern (at the same THD)
These are questions you need to ask the designers of the amp, but I'm starting to think you already knew that.
