No sound with HDMI splitter

Here is my setup :

I have a HTPC and cable TV linked to my receiver (onkyo tx-nr609)

The HDMI output of my receiver is linked to a 4-way HDMI splitter
For only $86.19 each when QTY 50+ purchased - 1X4 PRO Series Powered HDMI® Splitter with 3D support | HDMI Powered & Passive 1 X 4 Splitters

The HDMI splitter is outputting audio/video to three devices :
- Main television with energy speakers (living room)
- Television in bedroom
- Computer monitor with speakers


My problem is that 75% of the time, i am not getting any sound in my bedroom TV and on my computer monitor. The sound will always work with my energy speakers, but sometimes it will not work with my other devices. The video always work on all devices. Problem is only limited to the sound.

A few examples :

- With Cable : Sound will always output to my energy speakers in living room, but will never output to my computer monitor or to the bedroom TV

- HTPC with music : Sound and video always works everywhere

- HTPC with movies : Video works everywhere. But for the sound, it depends on the movie. For most of the movies will only output sound in the living room and i will not get any sound on the computer monitor or on my bedroom TV.

Like i said, only the computer monitor and the bedroom TV is affected by the problem. In the living room, everything works fine with my TV and my energy speakers (linked directly to the receiver)

it's very weird, because when i close my receiver it shut down my energy speakers, and once the energy speakers are not outputting sound anymore then the sound will work on the monitor and on the bedroom's TV. But it will only work when the energy speakers aren't outputting sound anymore, and it will only work for a few seconds while the receiver is in "sleep mode" and then after around 30 seconds my Onkyo receiver will totally shut down by itself and won't output any sound or video

What could I do to solve my problem ?

It seems like the problem is related to the implentation of EDID of the splitter.
The splitter is probably is "learning" the EDID from your AUdio Receiver ( 5.1 likely) and then your source outputs in 5.1 which most TV will not play. WHen you shut down the Audio Receiver, the EDID of the splitter re-learns the EDID from the remaining TV ( 2ch) and the source outputs 2ch. which will work on all displays.
You can always try a hdmi distribution amps/splitter that has built in edid management.

I hate these splitters, I had nothing but problems with them, having equal length matching cables helped when I had a similar problem as you, but I needed to have 20 feet coiled up behind my theater rack...
