Arrow Lexicon 12.4 Channel MP-20 "Media" Processor Preview

Harman has decided to put out a new high-end pre/pro through their Lexicon brand dubbed the MP-20. The MP-20, Lexicon's first product labeled a "Media" Processor, is the followup to the MC-12 Cinema Processor. Sporting the Sigma Designs VXP GF9452 chipset for 1080p upscaling, the 12.4 channel MP-20 will have Lexicon's new QLS 3D processing which adds three height/width channels up front and two in the rear. Four independent subwoofer outputs and Zone 2 HDMI output with OSD rounds out this offering which promises to be the go-to solution for those with huge home theaters.

    Wink

For North of $14K it better create a 12.4 channel soundtrack from a silent movie!

the MSRP is comical on this
Did Lexicon take someone else's processor and just add a couple things to it
remember, this is the company that took a $499 Oppo Blu-Ray player and stuffed it into a new chassis and tried to charge $3,500 !!!!!

    I hope people remember that

I'd like to get a peek inside this baby. Maybe at CEDIA.

I would LOVE to see Audioholics measure this baby every way possible!!!!

Shoot, if I had the money, I would get 2.

But for the record, I think all this 12.4CH and matrix decoding thingy is 100% gimmick. Just give me discrete DTS-HD MA & Dolby TrueHD.

Will it also convert all non-3D videos to 3D?

I would also love to see ATI update their pre-pro big time.

that appears to be this companies motive for years. Change the color, change the knobs, do some smoke and mirrors stuff and then change the name and mark it up, way up

I fully concur with detroit1 on this one. The reference to the Oppo clone gives an indication of how this company operates. 12.4 audio? Yea, I am sure there will be plenty of takers on this one. Did you happen to read the review(on another website, of course) about the new $8000 McIntosh Blu-Ray player that doesn't even perform as well as most $200 players on the market today, let alone the Oppos? The trouble is, high-end products usually mean aesthetically pleasing, yet, underwhelming, grossly over-priced units that rely on a name from the past that might have represented at the time the ultimate in technology and value for the money. This is no longer the case and given that all these DACs and processing products are pretty mature technologies manufactured by a handful of companies, these massive price differences are no longer justified and haven't been for years.

(Perhaps, Gene, because you didn't see the back of the unit, like everyone else out there today, it probably says "Made in China").

Heck darn near everything we use today either has parts made in China and assembled in the US or in the UK or the part or item is totally made in China and then marked way up for sale in the US. And know doubt one of these companies in China made most of the stuff we get and use today.

Looks like we have to live with it or if you have the dollars to buy truly 100% made in the US audio equipment or 100% made somewhere else besides ASIA
